Dear Baby Girl,
We’re in the home stretch of the 3rd trimester. In about 3 months we’ll get to see you face to face, and I’m getting more excited about it by the day!
Nothing much has been going on these last two weeks. My best friend came in town and it was great getting to see her. She’s already planning countless tea parties with you! I bought a little something for your corner of the room. And I’m still working on all those knitting projects. But other than that (oh and well potty training your brother) life’s been quiet.
I did see the midwife today, and things seem to be going well. Your brother saw her pull out the doppler and instantly said “baby bump bump” which is Damian for ‘we use that to hear baby’s heartbeat.’ Natalie and I were both very impressed he remember what it was for. His eyes got sooo wide once she found your thumping little heart. And of course, my heart melted. I love how he’s becoming more and more aware of you. I can’t wait to see how y’all do together, especially in the future. I’m sure you will fight just like all siblings do, but I hope that y’all can become best buds. He’s always going to be there for you–to play with, wrestle with, eventually gang up on me with… I also hope he protects you when y’all get older, tells you a boy is trouble when you start liking the wrong guy, but will still introduce you to all his older friends. I think there could be a lot of perks to having an older brother. However, you will still be entering the convent at age 18 so don’t get ahead of yourself
Speaking of convents, I’m (well I guess we are) going to ‘Baptism Class’ on Sunday so we can get you baptized at our church. I had to do this with your brother, but we’ve since switched to a different parish so I get to learn all about Baptism again. I’d love to get you baptized pretty early after your born, but as your Daddy so kindly reminded me “you’re going to want to throw a party this time…” so we may wait until closer to Christmas. I guess a lot of it will depend on what they have available. After ‘birth,’ your baptism is the thing I’m second most excited about. It is after all your second birth into God’s family.
Still no middle name for you… We have two contenders, however neither are family names like we wanted. We still need to search some family trees though so maybe something will turn up.
And that’s about it sweet girl. Keep moving and wiggling in there! Natalie says to tell you to stop sleeping horizontally and move your bottom up please. She’s got some fun inversions for me to be doing so we’ll see if that can convince you. Please don’t make me have to eat the jalapeño pizza like I did with Damian. I don’t think either of us want that, I promise!
I love you tons and tons,
